Māori and Pasifika women are diagnosed with higher rates of gynae cancers

  • Māori and Pasifika women are more likely to be diagnosed with ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancer compared with other non-Māori and non-Pasifika women.1-3

Pasifika women are diagnosed at a younger age for endometrial cancer.

  • Pasifika women are increasingly being diagnosed in their 40s or 50s for endometrial cancer.3

Māori and Pasifika women often face worse outcomes with gynae cancers.

  • Māori women are about 2.5 times less likely to survive cervical cancer compared with non‑Māori.4
  • Pasifika women experience poorer survival rates compared to Europeans across cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancer.5
